Police in Bangladesh said on Monday that they had arrested three Burmese-born members of the Pakistani Taliban who were planning to carry out attacks in Burma, according to a report by Indian news provider Zee News. The three—aged between 25 and 50 and identified only as Osman, Mehmud and Fakhrul—were arrested in Dhaka on Sunday, the report said. Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesman Monirul Islam told reporters that the men confessed they were “planning to launch their activities in Myanmar’s troubled [Arakan State] with their expertise to prepare high-powered explosives.” He added that the details of the plan were not known, but it appeared they had supporters in Bangladesh.
