The ideal candidate will have solid experience working on business news, features and analysis and will be familiar with all aspects of Burma’s diverse and rapidly changing economic scene.

He or she will have strong English-language skills and possess extensive contacts among the local business community.

Candidates should have an eye for breaking news and the ability to deliver stories quickly in a fast-paced digital news environment, as well as the skills to identify and analyze new trends.

Copy-editor Position

The Irrawaddy Publishing Group is seeking to hire an experienced copy editor who can work for The Irrawaddy’s English edition as soon as possible. Applicants should be based in Rangoon or be able to relocate here. At least three years of proven experience in editing news and feature stories in English is required.

Candidates for this post will be able to express ideas and shape stories concisely for an online readership. They will possess an eye for accuracy, be familiar with working to same-day deadlines, and know how to leverage social media to enhance the reporting process. They will be able to work closely with Burmese and non-Burmese reporters to help develop stories. The ideal candidate will also possess a high level of awareness of Burma’s politics, economy and culture.
