The Irrawaddy is seeking to hire an Admin & HR Assistant Manager to join its office in Yangon.

The assistant manager is expected to implement HR strategies, policies and procedures and to identify and design HR strategies according to the business plan and to provide the line supervisor with necessary reports and updates.

She/he is required to provide input, clarification and support to the line managers as and when requested and required.

The assistant manager is required to supervise and ensure all Admin & HR activities are up to date and to work closely with the Admin & HR team. The assistant manager has to make sure daily office administration goes smoothly and coordinate with all other internal departments as well as with external partners and government authorities.

The applicant will have a minimum 5 years of experience in office administration and human resources management and reporting, possess good analytical skills, and be proactive in tackling all challenges.

Prior experience working with government authorities will be considered an asset. The assistant manager must be willing to be flexible about work schedules as and when necessary.

Applicants shortlisted for the job are expected to have a good command of written and spoken English and Burmese, as she/he will be interacting with Burmese and non-Burmese staff. The candidate should be able to travel in and outside the country as and when requested by the line manager and/or the CEO and editor-in-chief. The assistant manager must be able to make presentations in English and Burmese to stakeholders as and when delegated.

The salary range is open to negotiation if the candidate is very qualified. Promotion is possible after 1 years if work performance and delivery are excellent.

Digital Sales Executive

The Irrawaddy is seeking to immediately hire Digital Sales Executive to join its Marketing & Sales Department located in its head-office in Yangon.

The applicants must be having minimum of 2 years of sales experience, having good knowledge of digital platforms and digital Ad space sales will be considered an asset.

The applicants will work under the supervision of the Digital Marketing Officer (DMO) as their immediate line supervisor.

She/he will be required set up meetings, visit clients, follow-up with clients on post sales services, prepare necessary client requested reports as per agreed TOR(s), coordinate with other team-members in supporting overall marketing and sales departmental activities and carry out tasks and activities as planned, agreed and assigned.

She/he should have good market knowledge of ongoing trends in digital sales, and be able to conduct market research as and when required by the department.

She/he will also be preparing monthly reports on digital space sold, revenue generated and available digital marketing space.

The applicant will be expected to join the Marketing & Sales team for client visits, provide information as and when requested for preparing departmental reports.

Candidate must be able to coordinate work as a team. She/he should be able to function with minimum supervision.

Previous work experience in a media company is preferred. Good command of written and spoken Burmese and English language is a must, along with good communication skills, understanding of digital/social media and its use in Myanmar, good IT skills and good working knowledge of MS office is a must.

The post will be offered with a base salary + commission on sales, along with other staff benefits applicable as per staff rules and regulations of the organization.

At least three years of proven experience in reporting and writing feature stories in English is required.

Successful candidates will be able to express ideas and shape stories concisely for an online readership; be familiar with working to same-day deadlines; know how to leverage social media to enhance their reporting; and possess a high level of awareness of Myanmar’s politics, economy and culture.

Candidates should also be well versed in the latest reporting and editing software and hardware, including the use of smartphone cameras for work purposes.
